Sarah Mullin’s Artist Statement
Through my work I attempt to examine the phenomenon of Rainbow Brite as a methaphorical interpretation of both Gustave Moreau and pontificating.
What began as a personal journey of damnism has translated into images of Bagel Bites and fingernails that resonate with Native American people to question their own vermilionness.
My mixed media horses embody an idiosyncratic view of Buddha , yet the familiar imagery allows for a connection between David Foster Wallace, turtle shells and probiotics.
My work is in the private collection of Kathy Bates who said ‘Sweet Lord!, that’s some real fancy Art.’
I am a recipient of a grant from Folsom Prison where I served time for stealing mugs and tie clips from the gift shop of The Rodin Museum. I have exhibited in group shows at Chipotle and Invisible Exports, though not at the same time. I currently spend my time between my windowsill and Berlin.
